Trust Agents has been written for people who are wanting to improve their online reputation through the use of social media and this will enable them to become Trust Agents.
What to expect in some of the chapters
- Trust, Social, Capital and Media
- Make Your Own Game
- One of Us
- Build an Army
If you are someone who is starting out developing your trusted knowledge status online, this book is excellent, giving you examples from the usual favourites; Kodak, Comcast and Dell. It explains in simple terms how to ensure that when you are building your personal standing (i.e. Trust Agent) and becoming a point of reference for your specialist subject. As with all excellent social media projects, it constantly reminds you not to keep on pushing your products or services but to be part of the community your are entering into and engaging with and always give more than you take.
I was somewhat disappointed by this book, as I thought it was going to more about how organisations can use build their trust online (i.e. online reputation), but it is more about how can an individual become a trusted point of reference, through improved online reputation but many of the items raised in the book can be developed in the corporate arena.
Would I suggest reading it?
If you are looking to increase your own personal online reputation, or you are an individual within an organisation wanting to use to social media to engage with customers, then I would recommend it. If you follow the advice given, it will lead to success.
